How do I get started?

Sign up at https://app.thriftify.com/signup with an email address. Your first 500 listings are free, no credit card required. Connect your eBay or Shopify account during onboarding. You can either create new listings from photos or import your existing catalogue and optimise it in bulk. If you're a large seller listing thousands of items per month, or a business with multiple stores, complex needs or a unique operating model; you can book a demo to discuss your needs in more detail.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. The free 500 listings require no credit card. You only add payment details when you choose a paid plan after using the free credits.

How long does the free trial last?

Accepted Answer

There's no time limit. The 500 listings don't expire. Use them at whatever pace fits your operation. Once you've used them, you move to a paid plan or pause your account.

Can I use Thriftify if I'm based outside the UK or Ireland?

Yes. Thriftify supports sellers in the EU, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, Germany, Mexico, The Middle East and the US, plus Shopify globally. Self-serve signup is available worldwide for these regions.

How long does it take to setup my Thriftify account?

Typically, a small business can be up and running in under five minutes. If you're importing an existing eBay or Shopify catalogue, the import runs in the background (under 30 seconds for 500 listings). If you're starting from photos, your first listing can publish in under 2 minutes.

Do I need to migrate from my existing tools?

Accepted Answer

No. Thriftify connects directly to your eBay, Shopify, and other channel accounts. If you currently use a third-party cross-listing or catalogue tool, your listings are already on eBay or Shopify. Thriftify imports them from there. You can run Thriftify in parallel with your existing tools during evaluation.

Does AI listing actually work, or is it just marketing copy?

How many photos does the AI need?

Three minimum, front, back, and a detail shot. More photos generally improve detection accuracy, particularly for material and condition. Beyond five to six photos, the accuracy improvement is marginal. For difficult categories, such as furniture, we recommend more photos.

For every category we ask that you upload photos of any written information visible on the item, such as brand, barcodes, logos, hallmarks, labels etc.

Does the AI work on every category?

Yes. Some categories are particularly strong, such as: clothing (all types), footwear, designer handbags and accessories, watches, jewellery, books, homeware, antiques. Weaker categories include: hyper-specialist niches with limited data e.g, hand-made unique furniture. Thriftify is used by very large global resellers who list in every single category, and in every category we achieve positive uplift in efficiency; some moreso than others.

Does Thriftify's AI write in my brand voice or a generic AI tone?

Your brand voice. During onboarding, Thriftify infers a per-seller voice profile from a sample of your existing eBay or Shopify listings. AI-generated content matches your tone, terminology, and length conventions.

What if the AI gets a field wrong?

Accepted Answer

Every field is editable before you publish. Most operators correct one or two fields per listing and approve. In production, up to 96% of listings publish without any edits at all. The AI improves with feedback over time.

You can also surface the fields you want to review in our QuickView feature, to more quickly keep a human in the loop and control key information for high value items.

Can the AI generate listings in non-English languages?

Yes. The AI generates listings in the marketplace's primary language. Thriftify can list in any languages you require.

How does the AI handle items that might violate eBay's policies?

Accepted Answer

Every generated listing is checked against eBay's prohibited-items policy before publication. Items flagged as risky are quarantined with a one-line explanation, not auto-published. No account suspension risk from volunteers or new staff publishing items they don't recognise as restricted.

Median time from photo upload to live listing is under 30 seconds per item. The architectural peak is approximately 10,714 listings per minute; sustained throughput is constrained by downstream channel API rate limits, not by Thriftify.

Which marketplaces and channels does Thriftify support?

eBay (all global websites), Shopify, TikTok Shop, Google Shopping, Whatnot, Etsy and Decathlon's Second Life marketplace.

The above options have full API accessibility and can we power comprehensive automation, de-listing and our entire feature set.

Thriftify also provides CSV upload access to various other channels, some of which require you be granted permission. Including: Depop, Vestiaire Collective, Amazon, WooCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Magento (Adobe Commerce) and BigCommerce.

CSV enabled channels do not have de-listing available.

Does Thriftify support the Universal Commerce Protocol?

Yes. Thriftify is fully capable of generating listings in line with the UCP, optimised for particular feeds such as OpenAI or Meta.

What is the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)?

Accepted Answer

The UCP is an open-source, industry standard for making e-commerce listings accessible to AI agents. For example, when somebody is chatting with ChatGPT and looking for a product recommendation, the UCP is the way an e-commerce business gets their listing into OpenAI so that it might be suggested to the ChatGPT user.

Other uses include allowing autonomous AI shopping agents to discover items, add them to cart and even purchase them on your behalf.

Why don't you support more marketplaces?

Strategic focus. We've prioritised channels where preloved businesses in our customers' markets actually generate revenue, and which support growing businesses. We only support marketplaces with enterprise-grade API's, guaranteeing no lost orders, double sales or other issues that are typical with cross-listing solution.

If my business has been granted API access to channel not on your list, can Thriftify integrate it?

Does cross-listing work in both directions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. List once in Thriftify and publish to all channels. Sales on any channel trigger de-list on the others. The multidirectional flow is the default, no extra configuration required.

What's the actual sync latency?

Sub-5 seconds in production, measured from sale confirmation on the source channel to de-list completion on the destination channel.

What happens if a de-listing fails?

Any API or webhook delivery failures are handled with quarantine and retry logic. If a marketplace API is unresponsive, Thriftify holds the de-list operation in a queue and retries on a backoff schedule. Operators see queued operations in the dashboard. No silent failures.

Can I choose which channels I cross-list to?

Yes. Cross-listing is configurable per listing. Publish to eBay only, Shopify only, or multiple channels. Most operations use multiple as the default and configure exceptions for specific items.

How does the TikTok Shop integration work?

Catalogue publication to TikTok Shop across UK, EU, and US markets via Shopify's TikTok Shop sales channel. You create a TikTok Shop seller account through TikTok directly. Your Thriftify catalogue publishes with TikTok Shop's category taxonomy and product attributes.

Catalogue feed to Google Merchant Center. Your Thriftify catalogue feeds into Google's Shopping index with structured data optimised for organic search ranking. Eligible for Google Shopping ads campaigns. Requires a Google Merchant Center account.

Catalogue publication to Whatnot's marketplace. You create a Whatnot seller account through Whatnot directly.

How does the Decathlon Second Life integration work?

Catalogue publication to Decathlon's Second Life marketplace via Mirakl. Decathlon Second Life is invite-only; you apply directly to Decathlon's marketplace team. Approval typically requires demonstrated inventory in relevant categories (refurbished sports equipment, fitness gear, cycling, outdoor goods). Once approved, your catalogue publishes through the Mirakl integration.

How does the Vestiaire Collective integration work?

Accepted Answer

Two access paths. If Vestiaire has granted you API access (typically requires ~1,000+ listings/month and demonstrated sales history), Thriftify integrates via Vestiaire's API with full auto-delist across channels. All other Thriftify customers can use the CSV export path: Thriftify generates a Vestiaire-formatted catalogue file that you upload to Vestiaire's seller portal. The CSV path is one-way; items must be manually de-listed from Vestiaire when they sell elsewhere.

Why doesn't auto-delist work on the Vestiaire CSV path?

The CSV path is a one-way push from Thriftify to Vestiaire. There's no API connection back, so Vestiaire can't notify Thriftify when items sell, and Thriftify can't trigger de-listing in Vestiaire when items sell on other channels. This is an operational limitation of the CSV approach; operators using it need to manually de-list items from Vestiaire's seller portal when necessary. API integration solves this but requires Vestiaire-approved seller status.

Who should use Vestiaire Collective on Thriftify?

Luxury consignment stores, high-end vintage operators with designer inventory (Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Cartier, and similar brands), and resellers focused on premium fashion. Weak fit for charity retail with diversified donated inventory, broad vintage operations, and any operation where the inventory doesn't meet Vestiaire's luxury threshold.

Can Thriftify list items on Vinted?

No. Vinted launched a Pro Integrations API in 2024 for select enterprise sellers but has since indicated they're closing API access. For sellers who already hold active Vinted API credentials, Thriftify may be able to integrate via those credentials with full auto-delist sync across other Thriftify channels. Setup happens through Thriftify's enterprise onboarding process, not self-serve. For all other customers, Vinted is not available through Thriftify, and Thriftify cannot help you obtain API access, Vinted controls eligibility entirely.

Can Thriftify help me get Vinted API access?

Accepted Answer

No. Vinted controls API eligibility and is not accepting new applicants. Thriftify cannot influence Vinted's decisions, help with applications, or provide alternative paths to Vinted access. If you don't have existing API credentials, Vinted is not available through Thriftify. Thriftify is primarily built for businesses who need additional functionality to grow their business, such as shipping automations, inventory management etc; Vinted and other peer-to-peer marketplaces typically do not provide this level of functionality, constraining your growth potential. Our advice is to select a very small number of channels that are built for businesses, focus on making them work as well as possible, and then gradually expanding to other channels.

How much does Thriftify cost?

£0.50 per listing as the standard unit rate, bundled into monthly plans that discount the unit price. Starter (£89/month, 200 listings included, ~£0.45/listing). Growth (£349/month, 800 listings included, ~£0.44/listing). Scale (£999/month, 2,500 listings included, ~£0.40/listing). Annual plans 15% off. Enterprise is a custom contract. If I use Thriftify how do I know the cost will be worth it?

We guarantee you a positive return on investment. For example, most users report a 200-450% increase in the speed of listings. Meaning that for every 1 listing you currently do, using Thriftify you'll do 2-4.5 listings. Even if your average selling price is a low £10, you'll make an extra £20-£45 in income without spending any additional money on staffing.

The above doesn't take into consideration the fact that most users also report an increase in their average selling price and an increase in sale through rates.

For a typical preloved business listing 30 items per day, you can expect to make a return on investment of £4,000-£7,500 per lister.

What counts as a listing?

One listing is one item published to any number of channels. Cross-listing the same item to both channels counts as one listing, not two, the cross-listing is included in the listing fee. Bulk-optimising an existing listing also counts as one listing. Re-listing the same item after it expires or sells is not a new listing.

What happens if I exceed my monthly listing limit?

Accepted Answer

Overages are billed at £0.50 per listing, the standard rate, without the bundle discount. No hard cap, no service interruption. We send a notification when you cross your bundle so you can decide whether to upgrade.

Can I cancel or downgrade anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All plans are monthly with no contract. Downgrade, upgrade, or cancel any time from your account settings. The change takes effect on your next billing date. Annual plans are 15% off but non-refundable mid-term.

Do you charge per user?

No. Every plan includes unlimited users. Role-based access control is gated to Scale and above, that's the difference.

Above 800 items/month, Thriftify is materially cheaper on a per-listing basis because of the volume bundles. The strategic difference is what each tool does: cross-listers distribute listings you've already written; Thriftify is a full spectrum operating system for everything you do as a preloved business, from stock picking all the way through to reporting.

AI listing creation is designed to work without category expertise; volunteers upload photos and Thriftify generates the full listing. Role-based access keeps shop-floor users from touching pricing rules, HQ reporting, or integrations they shouldn't. Prohibited-items checking quarantines policy-risky items before publication, so untrained staff can't accidentally damage account health.

Does Thriftify integrate with my Gift Aid system?

We integrate with Gift Aid systems where possible but don't replace dedicated Gift Aid management software. Thriftify handles online listing and channel operations; your existing Gift Aid system remains the system of record. Raise your specific setup in a scoping call and we'll confirm what's feasible.

Will Thriftify replace my accounting system?

Accepted Answer

No. Thriftify feeds data into your accounting and reporting, it doesn't replace Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage. We handle online listing, cross-listing, and channel operations; your finance stack stays the source of truth for accounting.

Can I sync Thriftify with my existing barcode label printer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SKU barcodes are generated at intake and are compatible with any standard barcode scanner and label printer using standard barcode protocols. Scan at any workflow stage to update SKU status automatically.

What if the integration I need isn't listed here?

Tell us. Integrations happen at the API layer, so many systems we don't list explicitly can still connect if they support REST. Book a technical scoping call and we'll tell you honestly whether the integration is feasible, on the roadmap, or out of scope.

Scale (£999/month) includes API access. Enterprise contracts include API access by default with custom rate limits negotiated as part of contract scope. Starter and Growth plans do not include API access, they're built for dashboard-driven workflows.

What's the authentication model?

OAuth 2.0 for user-context operations (where the API acts on behalf of a user's connected marketplace account). API key authentication for server-to-server integration where the calling system is the principal. API keys support scoped permissions, read-only, write, admin, and can be rotated without disruption.
